Aikido for children

Ages 7-15yrs old

Book your classes below

Aikido is available for children from 7-15yrs old. The training is mainly based on Aikido, self defence and exercises to get fitter, stronger and more skilful in martial arts. The classes are focused and enjoyable with the teens working with each other. Aikido is the perfect martial art for young people and influences them positively and creatively, increased confidence and skills and make new friends.

Schedule: Saturday from 11-12pm 7-15yrs old.  Jogging pants, t-shirt and flip flops required.

All our teachers are qualified instructors with full insurance cover, first aid and DBS certified. The Aikido of London child protection policy can be downloaded here.

After the beginners workshop teens can become fully fledged members and continue their training. The fees to join are £30pa membership (includes insurance), £100pm for 10 sessions per school term or 16 weeks. Please note if the sessions are not used in this time they will expire.

Ivan Melo

Senior Instructor

Ivan Melo began Aikido and martial arts when he was 14 years old. He will be teaching the teen classes and looks forward to help get young people moving again.

Ivan is also a qualified Music teacher and teaches and plays the guitar.

Beth Harris

Beth is a new junior assistant for the youth classes. This is a perfect match as she is a late teen herself and started Aikido when she was 16.

She is currently studying  at the Royal Veterinary College.

Cathy Humphris

Cathy is a relative new comer to Aikido but full of enthusiasm and has a lot of teaching experience as she is another childrens music tutor. She will be assisting at first as children get use to activity again after a long break.

Olya Kolchyna

Olya has several years experience teaching  young people as she was the head Aikido coach at the prestigious Central St Martins School of Art.

She is a regular teacher at Aikido of London and has led the Saturday children’s class pre-lockdown.

Nikolay Nikolov

Nikolay will join in with the senior teachers for the children’s classes. His positive energy and enthusiasm will make him a popular teacher.

He began his trainining in Bulgaria as a teen and joined Aikido of London in 2017.
